Breeds in separate colonies in Eastern Chukotka, the Sea of ​​Okhotsk, in particular, on Verkhoturov Island in Karginsky Bay, on Ushishir Islands in the middle of the Kuriles. Winters from Commander to the Southern Kuriles and Northern Primorye. The voice is a quiet chirping.
